(Consolidation & Communication)

Consolidation is a central task of conservation and restoration, on which many other conservation measures are built. It is about consolidating aged, weakened material structures with adapted means and methods. The conference proceedings include a basic essay by Velson Horie and 15 essays by experts from Germany, Italy, Lithuania, Malta, Austria, Switzerland and the Czech Republic, who present the results of long-standing applied or new fundamental research on the consolidation of art and cultural heritage.

Four main topics will be addressed, dealing with selection criteria, application methods, the required degree of consolidation and innovative special solutions in the use of traditional and newer consolidating agents, such as epoxy resin foam, cyclododecane, funori, nanocellulose and nanolime. Communication about this is what gets us ahead!
