Hildesheim is situated directly at the freeway A 7. Coming from the south, please take the exit Hildesheim – No. 62 (coming from the north, you have to pass first exit “Hildesheim-Drispenstedt No. 61) and follow the main road B1 to the centre of Hildesheim.

Arriving by Rail

Hildesheim railway station is stop of Germany's high speed train “ICE”. The HAWK is within 5 minutes walking distance from Eastern railway station ("Hildesheim Ostbahnhof").

Arriving by Plane

The airport Hannover is about 50 km away, but very small and there is no direct train connection to Hildesheim, you usually have to change train once: about 70 minutes, about 12,00 €). With shuttle service it is 45 minutes, 75,00 € (please book in advance, www.fthaj.de, Tel.: +49 (0) 511 9772240), with taxi 45 minutes, approx. 140,00 €). 

From abroad it is usually much more advisable and convenient to fly to Frankfurt or Berlin and from there take the ICE directly to Hildesheim. Early bookers save at Deutschen Bahn a great deal of money.
Frankfurt: Journey time from Frankfurt airport station approx. three hours, costs for return journey: between approx. 70,- Euro (early booking) and 240,- Euro (flex price). Berlin: Travel time from Berlin main station approx. two hours, costs for return journey: between 60,- Euro (early booking) and 200,- Euro (flex price).

Sightseeing

We recommend a visit of St. Mary's Cathedral and Dommuseum and its medieval cathedral treasure. Since December, the Roemer- und Pelizaeus-Museum has been displaying part of its important Egyptian collection in a new presentation.

Childcare

Free childcare is available for children aged 6 months to 12 years at a location near HAWK during the lectures, upon request. Please register your child with the Hornemann Institute by 8 March 2026 at the latest.
