25th Anniversary of the Hornemann Institute

“Best of Hornemann Institute" Ceremony

9 November 2023, 4.30 pm | HAWK in Hildesheim, Auditorium, Hohnsen 2

The Hornemann Institute of the HAWK is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year. It began its work in November 1998 as a Hildesheim project of EXPO2000. For this purpose, the city, the HAWK (formerly the FH) and the University of Hildesheim pooled their resources.

Since then, the primary goal of the Hornemann Institute has been the international transfer of knowledge in the field of cultural heritage conservation, primarily through online courses.

It has been integrated into the HAWK in Hildesheim for 20 years, thus complementing the HAWK's core tasks of research, continuing education for professionals, knowledge transfer to society, intensive regional integration, international cooperation and public information. Its multimedia online courses, which are used all over the world, contribute to equal opportunities, because the courses, which can be completed independently of time and place, open up academic teaching to places in the world where there is insufficient access to educational opportunities.

We would like to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Institute with a colourful and joyful ceremony. People who have accompanied us over the years will tell their individual stories, a "Best of Hornemann Institute". Among others, the following will be present

  • Dr. Annamaria Geiger, former Head of the Department of Culture and EXPO, City of Hildesheim
  • Prof. Dr. Erwin Wagner, former Director of the Centre for Continuing Education, University of Hildesheim
  • Prof. Dr. Ursula Schädler-Saub, emer. Prof. of the HAWK in Hildesheim, study courses in conservation/restoration
  • Prof. Dr. Thomas Vogtherr, University of Osnabrück, Department of History
